AIA Bhd. Confident of Continued Growth

6 October 2008

Kuala Lumpur – American International Assurance Bhd. (“AIA”) is confident of continued growth now that American International Group Inc., (“AIG”) has announced its intention to refocus the company and maintain a majority interest in AIA Companies in Asia.

According to AIA Chief Executive Officer Khor Hock Seng, now that AIG has made known it will retain a continuing ownership interest in AIA Companies in Asia, we do not anticipate any major changes to our operational style. He said that AIA’s business philosophy will continue to be the first choice provider of insurance with innovative and relevant products that anticipate our customers’ priorities with an aim to exceed their expectations.

Khor said that despite the events in the US financial market in recent weeks, AIA registered a 23 percent growth in new business for September (2008), which reflects the public’s confidence in AIA as a long-term and active participant in the local insurance and financial planning market. Khor added “we are grateful to all policyholders, agents, staff and partners for their ongoing support.”
“We are pleased to reiterate that AIA continues to be a high-performing and profitable business that has enjoyed steady revenue growth.

“AIA has been a household name in Insurance in Malaysia for 60 years. We have built a strong business foundation over time and look forward to continue servicing our customers needs now and in the future. Going forward, AIA is and will now be better positioned for further growth,” concluded Khor.
